About This Call
The City of Loveland Art in Public Places Program seeks sculptures to be placed in Downtown Loveland as part of The Art Advocacy Project (TAAP). This is a one-year temporary on-loan sculpture exhibition scheduled from May 2012 to May 2013. All Colorado sculptors are encouraged to apply. Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $1,000, and a People's Choice Award will also be designated with a $500 cash prize.
Artists must be Colorado residents and own the rights to the artwork. The sculpture must be available for the duration of the one-year contract and professionally constructed of durable materials that will withstand the elements. All durable outdoor media are encouraged. Sculptures will be placed within a well-traveled shopping/gallery streetscape on a 3½' x 3½' plinth. The installation method should be welded tabs or similar easy-install method. There are presently no restrictions on size. Artists may submit up to 2 sculptures for consideration. Each submission must include three images that clearly show a front and back view and one detail shot, along with all dimensions and a stated insurance value for the artwork.
Selected artwork may be available for sale. The City of Loveland will install a recognition plaque indicating the title, medium, artist and contact phone number for purchasing artwork. All sculptures will be listed on the Art in Public Places web pages and within all TAAP promotional material. Selected artists are responsible for transportation of the artwork to and from the installation site. The City is responsible for all costs for materials and workmanship for the initial installation, including final site preparation, plinth, cleanup and repair of any damage caused during installation. The City will insure the artwork for the duration of exhibition. Contact Suzanne Janssen, Public Art/Business Services Manager, at 970-962-2490 or [email protected] for clarification regarding TAAP.
