About This Call
The City of Loveland Art in Public Places Program seeks sculptures to be placed in Downtown Loveland as part of The Art Advocacy Project (TAAP). New and established Colorado artists are encouraged to participate in this one-year sculpture exhibition scheduled from May 2011 to May 2012. Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $1,000, and a People's Choice Award will also be designated and paid a $500 award.
Artists must own the rights to the artwork, and sculptures must be available for the duration of the one-year contract. All submissions must be professionally constructed of durable materials that will withstand the elements. Artists may submit up to two sculptures for consideration. Each submission must include three images that clearly show front and back views and one detail shot, along with all dimensions and a stated insurance value. Sculptures will be placed on a 3½' x 3½' plinth within a well-traveled shopping/gallery streetscape. The installation method should be welded tabs or similar easy-install method.
A citizen selection panel will work with the City of Loveland Visual Arts Commission to determine six finalists. Artwork may be available for sale, and selected pieces will be listed on the Art in Public Places web pages and within all TAAP promotional material. The City will install a recognition plaque indicating the title, medium, artist, and contact phone number for purchasing artwork. Selected artists are responsible for transportation to and from the installation site. The City is responsible for all costs for materials and workmanship for initial installation, including site preparation, plinth, cleanup, and repair of any damage caused during installation. The City will insure the artwork for the duration of exhibition.
