About This Call

The City of Loveland Art in Public Places Program seeks six sculptures to be placed in Downtown Loveland as part of The Art Advocacy Project (TAAP). As recipient of the 2008 Governor's Arts Award, the City of Loveland continues its commitment to supporting artists through TAAP. New and established Colorado artists are encouraged to participate in this one-year sculpture exhibition scheduled from May 2009 to May 2010.

A citizen selection panel will work with the City of Loveland Visual Arts Commission to determine the six finalists. All submissions must be professionally constructed of durable materials which will withstand the elements. Artists must own the rights to the artwork and the sculpture must be available for the duration of the one-year contract. Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $500. The artwork may be available for sale, and the City of Loveland will install a recognition plaque indicating the title, medium, artist and contact phone number for purchasing artwork. All sculptures will be listed on the Art in Public Places webpages and within all TAAP promotional material.

Submissions must include three images per sculpture clearly showing front and back views and one detail shot. Artists may submit more than one sculpture for consideration. All dimensions and a stated insurance value for the artwork must be provided. There are presently no restrictions on size; however, sculptures will be placed within a well-traveled shopping/gallery streetscape and planting beds. Selected artists are responsible for transportation of the artwork to and from the installation site. The City is responsible for all costs for materials and workmanship for the initial installation, including final site preparation, plinth, cleanup and repair of any damage caused during installation. For clarification regarding TAAP, contact Suzanne Janssen, Public Art/Business Services Manager for the City of Loveland, at 970-962-2490.
