About This Call

The City of Loveland Art in Public Places Program seeks sculptures to be placed in Downtown Loveland as part of The Art Advocacy Project (TAAP). Colorado sculptors are encouraged to participate in this one-year sculpture exhibition scheduled from May 2013 to May 2014. Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $1,000, and are eligible for the $500 People's Choice Cash Award. Installed artwork may be available for sale. Since 2009, three sculptures featured during The Art Advocacy Project were purchased for the City's permanent art collection.

Artists must be Colorado residents and own the rights to the artwork. Sculptures must be available for the duration of the one-year contract and professionally constructed of durable materials that will withstand the elements. All durable outdoor media are encouraged. Submissions must include three images per sculpture clearly showing front and back views and one detail shot. Artists may submit up to two sculptures, with each submission requiring three images. All dimensions and stated insurance value must be provided. Sculptures will be placed on a 3½' x 3½' plinth within a well-traveled shopping/gallery streetscape. Installation method should be welded tabs or similar easy-install method. Artwork must be delivered exhibit-ready, stable, and well-fabricated. Selected artists are responsible for transportation to and from the installation site.

The City is responsible for all costs of initial installation, including site preparation, plinth, cleanup, and repair of any installation damage. The City will insure the artwork for the exhibition duration and install a recognition plaque with title, medium, artist name, and contact phone number for purchasing. All sculptures will be listed on the Art in Public Places web pages and within TAAP promotional material. Contact Suzanne Janssen, Public Art/Business Services Manager, at 970-962-2490 or [email protected] for clarification.
