About This Call

The City of Loveland Art in Public Places Program seeks sculptures to be placed in Downtown Loveland as part of The Art Advocacy Project (TAAP), a one-year sculpture exhibition scheduled from mid-June 2020 until mid-June 2021. Selected artists will be awarded an honorarium of $2,000. The installed artwork may be available for sale.

The program is open to all artists working in three-dimensional media. All durable outdoor media are encouraged, including temporary artwork specifically designed to morph or transition over the year through exposure to the elements. Artists may submit up to 2 sculptures for consideration, with each sculpture submitted separately. Each submission must include three images that clearly show front and back views, including one that shows the scale of the work. Submissions must be original creations owned by the artist, professionally constructed of durable materials that will withstand the elements, and available for the full one-year contract duration. Artists must provide dimensions (height x width x depth), weight, and stated insurance value. Sculptures will be installed onto a 3½' x 3½' plinth within a well-traveled shopping/gallery streetscape. Installation method should use welded tabs or similar easy-install methods. Selected artists are responsible for transportation costs to and from the installation site.

The City of Loveland will install a recognition plaque with the title, medium, artist name, and contact phone number for purchasing artwork. All sculptures will be listed on the Art in Public Places webpages and within TAAP promotional material. If artwork is sold, the Loveland Art in Public Places Program will retain a 20% commission of the purchase value. Artists will enter into a City of Loveland contract outlining specific project terms. General liability insurance may be necessary for selected artists. The City will maintain insurance coverage on works due to vandalism and assumes responsibility for minor maintenance, but will not be liable for degradation caused by normal wear and tear or weathering. The deadline for submission is April 20, 2020 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Jury panel review will occur April 21–May 8, 2020.
