About This Call

The Rialto Bridge Project will be located at 228 West Fourth Street in downtown Loveland. The Rialto Theater Bridge will combine theater operations with a Green Room/Storage/Support Space for the Rialto Theater, Multi-Use Community Events Room, Restaurant, and Commercial Office Space. This is a public-private development. The selected artist will be expected to begin work on the design team immediately once awarded.

Artist(s) will be responsible for identifying sites for integrated artwork, interpreting the site using feedback from user groups, identifying ways to maximize the Art in Public Places monies by "piggy-backing" upon construction projects, and utilizing the exterior of the site. The selected artist will be paid based on an hourly rate.

The project is open to any professional artist with proven experience working with architects and design teams. Artist must have a proven ability to communicate effectively and meet critical deadlines. Due to the need to meet regularly with the architect/design team, the artist should reside within a 150-mile radius of Loveland. Selection criteria include previous artistic accomplishment, experience collaborating with architects and design teams, and demonstrated ability to complete public art projects in a timely manner and within budget.

Applications must include a current resume or curriculum vitae, ten digital images representing past work, and a written preliminary statement (not to exceed 5000 characters) addressing the artist's interest in the project and preliminary statement of approach. Submissions deadline is July 9, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Finalists will be notified by July 23, 2010. Contact: Suzanne Janssen at 970-962-2490 or [email protected].
