About This Call
The Loveland Library, located at the Civic Center complex at 500 East Third Street in downtown Loveland, is undergoing an expansion on its present site. The Library is a LEED qualifying facility. This is an open call for professional artist(s) to create integrated public art for the project.
The chosen themes are water, the history of the area, and natural elements. The artist(s) should integrate the Library entryway, integrate the stairwell (metaphorically referred to as the "lantern"), and identify additional opportunities for integrated public art. A color palette of neutral tans, greens, blues, and reds (as found in nature) will be used within the facility and is incorporated within several architectural design elements. Up to $70,000 has been allocated for this project to include design, fabrication, insurance, installation, landscaping (if applicable), travel, and all incidental costs.
Eligibility: The project is open to any professional artist(s) with proven experience working with architects and design teams. Artists must have a proven ability to communicate effectively and meet critical deadlines. Due to the need to meet regularly with the architect/design team, artists should reside within a 150-mile radius of Loveland. If awarded, the artist(s) must be available to begin work immediately.
Submission Requirements: A current resume or curriculum vitae, 10 digital images illustrating design concept(s), 10 digital images representing past work, a written preliminary statement (not to exceed 5000 characters) addressing the artist's interest in the project and proposed design artwork, and three professional references. Submissions must be made by Tuesday, July 6, at 11:59 p.m. MDT through the CAFÉ online Call for Entry service. Finalists will be notified by Thursday, July 15. Finalists must be able to present their final design concepts on Thursday, July 29th and may bring drawings and/or a maquette for the final presentation.
Selection Criteria: Integrated design concepts, previous artistic accomplishment, experience collaborating with architects and design teams, demonstrated ability to complete public art projects in a timely manner and within budget, and three professional references. The review panel will include representatives from the Visual Arts Commission (3), Facilities staff (1), Library staff (2), and Library Board (1). The Visual Arts Commission will make all final decisions.
