City of Loveland: Highway 287 Underpass

The City of Loveland Art in Public Places Program seeks an artist to work closely with City of Loveland staff and contractors during the design and construction of a recreation trail underpass for Highway 287 in Loveland, Colorado. The selected artist will provide artwork for a new pedestrian underpass for the City's recreation trail located at the north end of town. The project will involve large expanses of concrete cast-in-place or pre-cast retaining walls to be artistically interpreted by an artist.

Applicants should demonstrate the ability to work in one of the following mediums: concrete walls, concrete paving, concrete form liners, mosaics, lighting, or metal work for hand and safety railings. All art must be durable and lasting. The selected artist must be able to work in a collaborative environment with the engineering/design team for final site location and selection of art.

Submission Requirements: Submit ten (10) images of past artwork that clearly demonstrate your experience as an artist within an outdoor pedestrian/highway setting. All images should indicate the project, dimensions, and pertinent details for jury consideration. Work on this project will begin mid-May, and construction at the site is anticipated to begin during the fall. The present budget for this project is up to $25,000, inclusive of all design fees and fabrication of artistic elements.
