City of Los Altos - Art without Walls

Art Without Walls is a sculpture loan program sponsored by the City of Los Altos Public Arts Commission. Art is exhibited in business districts, parks and green spaces across the city, with the outdoor gallery open year-round and free for all visitors. The program currently showcases 30 loaned and owned pieces of art.

Selected artists receive a $1,500 stipend to help cover insurance, transportation and other costs. Work will be on loan for two years, and both the artist and their work will be promoted through local media and in the Art Without Walls walking tour brochure. The program seeks new works representing a variety of outdoor sculpture styles including kinetic, lighted, mosaics, and large or small pieces of outdoor sculpture.

Sculptures should have bases measuring from 3' x 3' to 6' x 6'. Other installations must fit within the constraints of selected venues, leaving adequate space for pedestrian and bicycle traffic. Applications must include a completed entry form, minimum of 3 color photos from different perspectives (including 1 close-up of artwork detail), brief description, supplemental statement of additional installation guidelines if any, and short artist biography. Artists may submit up to 20 art pieces, with each application representing 1 art piece. Art Without Walls is open to all artists whose artwork meets the required sculpture specifications.
