About This Call
The City of Lafayette Arts and Cultural Resources Department invites Colorado artists and arts organizations to submit work to be displayed in one of three city facilities: City Hall, the Library, and the Senior Center. Artwork will be selected by a panel of city staff and will typically hang for a two-month time period. This is a no-fee, juried exhibition. Artists showing their work at the Library or Senior Services may request permission to hold a reception.
Submit 5-15 images of your work via CaFE, along with an image list (size, date, media), artist's statement, and contact information. All work must be suitable for public display and display-ready, including framing, matting, and hanging wire compatible with the city galleries' hanging system. Two-dimensional media is preferred; wall-hung 3-dimensional media will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The artist or a proxy must be available to hang their own work. Gallery wall sizes vary: City Hall has two sections (10' wide by 6' high and 8' wide by 6' high); Senior Services has one wall (16' wide by 10' 3" high); Library has two brick walls (26' wide by 6' high and 48' wide by 6' high).
Artists are responsible for installing their shows, providing labels with title, media, price, and contact information, and handling all sales transactions. Artists must insure their own artwork; the City of Lafayette does not insure art or assume liability for theft or damage. Artists are responsible for picking up artwork at the end of the exhibition and for dismantling on the agreed-upon date. The rolling call is open until February 28, 2019, with preference given to artists who apply by January 1, 2019.
