About This Call

Professional artists or artist teams residing in California, Oregon, and Nevada with experience in the design, fabrication, and installation of public artwork are eligible to apply. Applicants must be familiar with working with art consultants, architects, designers, contractors, and clients on project teams.

Four site-specific commissions are available with total budgets ranging from $58,000 to $100,000: (1) a hard surface application on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd floor west walls (14'h x 25'w, $100,000); (2) a suspended three-dimensional element in the atrium ($82,500); (3) design of terrazzo flooring and concrete plaza arboretum walk with integrated elements ($82,500); and (4) a new media digital and video piece on second floor walls outside the community room with two 12'h x 20'w walls and a 12' x 14' video wall inset ($58,000). All budgets include design, fabrication, delivery, and installation.

Artwork will be evaluated on quality of craftsmanship, innovation, creativity, demonstrated proficiency with materials and techniques, experience collaborating with architectural design teams, and ability to design, fabricate, and install within project timeline and budget. Artwork should integrate with the building's modern and elegant architectural style, engage viewers, and interpret the surrounding community and region. Project themes include environmental issues, regional geography and history, preservation of historic and natural resources, and cultural vitality.

Submit a letter of interest, 10-20 digital images of completed relevant projects (video acceptable; no more than 3 videos for the new media site), artist statement, resume/CV, and references by email to [email protected] (cc: [email protected]). RFQ deadline: April 20, 2015.
