About This Call
The City of Greeley is seeking original artwork for Homestead Park and Open Space, a 32-acre site located immediately south of Highway 34 along West 29th Street. The artwork must relate to the theme of water in Greeley and provide betterment to the city's water utility. Concepts might include the necessity of clean water to natural vegetation and wildlife, environmental themes, water savings, or other water-related topics. Artwork must include a tie to the Greeley Water or sewer system through impression, education, materials used, or historic interpretation of water use in the Greeley area.
Homestead Park, formerly the Elks Club Golf Course, is currently in the design phase. The site features three ponds in a natural Colorado setting with wetland vegetation, mature trees, native grasses, recreational trails, and abundant wildlife. The preliminary master plan includes natural play structures, an eight-foot earthen berm called "Lookout Hill," observation decks overlooking the ponds, picnic shelters, trails, and an outdoor educational area. All forms of media appropriate and complementary to the park's open space feel, natural play theme, and existing natural surroundings will be considered. Artwork must be designed to not interfere with wildlife, and high preference will be given to artwork integrated into the natural environment, such as permanent earthwork projects, or that encourages experimentation, observation, and creative thinking.
A budget of up to $25,000 is available for one or more artworks. The total contract amount includes all applicable expenses, including design fees, execution, transportation, site preparation, landscaping, and installation. Projects proposed to exceed the budget will not be considered. Applicants must submit 3-6 images of their work. Incomplete or late entries will not be considered.
