City of Golden Transit Shelter Project

The City of Golden is seeking design and construction services for transit shelters at Parfet Park. The scope of work includes identification and refinement of a community-based design, creation of a community design statement, and management of all project aspects from start of construction through completion in compliance with local inspection requirements.

The Transit Centers are intended to provide a unique presence at Parfet Park to serve community goals including increasing awareness of transit options, boosting transit usage, and enhancing community culture and image through higher impact design for public amenities. Proposals should address the following requirements: The shelters must provide protection from sun, snow, rain, and wind; accommodate visible, user-friendly transit and way-finding information; meet ADA guidelines for access; be constructed with attractive, durable materials; incorporate lighting for aesthetics and safety; and be able to withstand Golden's environmental conditions for up to 15 years with reasonable maintenance. Designs using alternative power sources will receive extra consideration. Electrical access can be provided, but alternate power sources are preferred. Interior and/or exterior furniture should discourage use as a sleeping area. Shelters should be similar in appearance, inviting to users, and of creative and artistic design unique to Golden.

Work duration is from July 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015. The pre-construction/design phase requires proposing at least three different alternate design options for City review, refining the selected option to conceptual construction plans with preliminary cost estimates, and preparing bid package documents. The construction phase includes developing a master construction schedule, conducting weekly construction meetings, managing all construction activities and project controls, and preparing as-built drawings. The post-construction phase requires maintaining project files, coordinating project closeout, and delivering a complete project closeout file to the City. Applicants must submit evidence of past work related to this project. A Professional Engineer registered in Colorado must be in responsible charge of the Construction Plans and Specifications and affix their seal and signature to the final plans. Work sample requirements: minimum 5 images, maximum 20 images; 0-2 audio files; 0-2 video files; total samples 5-20.
