City of Golden Entryway Public Art

The City of Golden is seeking artists to create public art for the Entryway Public Art Project. The artwork will be installed at the roundabout located at South Golden Road and Ulysses Street near the King Soopers Shopping Center. The roundabout has a radius of approximately 28 feet in diameter, not including the concrete apron around the diameter.

The artwork should be a welcoming enhancement to the visual appearance of the entryway and should appeal to a broad range of people while being uplifting and stimulating to the spirit, intellect, and physical senses. Artistic creativity and interpretation that speaks to Golden's heritage and natural setting is encouraged. The entryway art does not need to follow a theme but should be branded to identify the entryway to Golden. Branded signage is a possibility. The art should be in harmony and complementary to the surrounding area.

The call is open to all artists and artist teams 18 years and older. Experience creating public art is preferred. Artwork will be selected on the basis of creativity, artistic merit, technical proficiency, and relationship to the site. Long-term maintenance, durability, and public safety concerns will be major selection criteria. The project budget is $40,000 including concept design, fabrication, artist fee, travel, installation, and all other project-related expenses. Applicants must submit a minimum of 5 and maximum of 20 images, with up to 2 audio files and up to 2 video files.
