About This Call
The City of Fort Collins Art in Public Places Program and Poudre River Public Library District seek an artist or artist team to collaborate on site-specific artwork for the remodel of the Main Library in Fort Collins, Colorado. The selected artist(s) will work with the Project Team to develop artistic concepts and design, fabricate, and install artwork that engages the community.
The artist(s) should demonstrate a proven ability to successfully develop and lead art concepts within a collaborative design team process, complete public art projects on schedule and within budget, and communicate ideas in written, oral, and graphic formats. The Main Library remodel aims to create a modern, fresh, comfortable environment with exciting browsing collections, user-friendly technology, social and comfortable spaces for different age groups, clear wayfinding, maximized natural light, and an active merchandising approach. The artwork must be durable, energy efficient, low maintenance, and appropriate for the users and location. The Main Library is located at 201 Peterson Street, Fort Collins, CO 70524.
This project is open to all Colorado professional artists legally residing in and authorized to work in the United States. The budget is up to $35,000 all-inclusive, covering artist's design fee, travel, materials, engineering, permitting, systems coordination, fabrication costs, documentation, and transportation and installation. The proposed project schedule includes preliminary design (November-December 2011), final design (January 2012), art installation (May 2012), and facility grand opening (June 2012). Application materials must be submitted via CaFE and include a letter of intent (not to exceed 2,000 characters), résumé, six images of relevant work completed within the past ten years with identification including media, dimensions, title, year, brief description and budget, and three references with names, phone numbers, and email addresses. Questions should be directed to Ellen Martin at [email protected] or (970) 416-2789.
