About This Call
The City of El Paso Public Art Program is seeking an artist capable of collaborating with the Architectural design team to envision and create a large-scaled artwork that integrates with the building's architecture, reflects the active nature of the building, and represents the values of the community that uses it. Opportunities for the artwork may include the space of window mullions, floors, walls (interior/exterior), or other locations coordinated with the architectural design team. Artwork materials should be compatible with the humid atmosphere of an aquatic center; materials to consider include glass, tile, metal, terrazzo, or similar.
The Westside Pool Project will include an indoor competition pool hosting local, sectional, state, and high school swimming competitions as well as programming for swimming, water polo, and synchronized swimming. The pool will comply with United States of America Swimming (USAS) standards and requirements. The facility will accommodate 840 spectators and 420 athletes, with design features compatible with the existing Leo Cancellare Pool.
Applicants must submit 6 images. Eligibility is open to national applicants.
