City of El Paso: Veterans Park Public Art Project

The City of El Paso's Public Art Program is seeking to commission a professional local artist or artist team residing within a 300 mile radius of El Paso, TX, to create an exterior three-dimensional memorial that pays tribute to the El Paso Veterans of Foreign Wars at Veterans Park located at 5301 Salem Dr. in El Paso, Texas.

Selected artist(s) will design, fabricate, and install an outdoor, site-specific, three-dimensional tribute to the El Paso Veterans of Foreign Wars. Artists are encouraged to depict El Paso's history, character, diversity, and cultural identity. Three semi-finalists will be selected to submit a Request for Proposals (RFP) to develop the proposed memorial. Artists will work with City officials and community stakeholders. Design considerations should include day and night viewing visibility, color, light, and interactive components. Proposals must include project description, itemized budget outline, project illustrations (drawings, renderings and/or maquette), and maintenance guidelines. Honorarium for RFP will be provided.

Eligibility: Applicants must be professional artists/artist teams, 18 years of age or older, and reside within a 300 mile radius from El Paso, TX. International artists living within the 300 mile radius are welcome to apply with proper legal documentation. Current City of El Paso employees and Public Art Committee members may not apply. Total project budget is $50,000 to include design, fabrication, and installation. Submission deadline: October 31, 2012 by 5:00 pm. Applicants must submit a letter of interest, current resume, and six (6) images of completed past artworks via the CAFÉ online application system. Images must be sized to 1920 pixels on any one direction, saved as baseline JPEG in RGB color space, and no more than 1.8 MB in file size. For questions, contact Alejandra M.
