City of El Paso Sun Metro Administration, Operations and Maintenance Facility Public Art Commission

The City of El Paso Public Art Program, in partnership with Sun Metro (the City's Mass Transit Department), seeks to commission a professional artist or artist team to design, fabricate, and install an exterior site-specific, original public artwork for the Sun Metro Administration, Operations and Maintenance Facility. The facility is approximately 145,017 square feet and is under construction, with completion expected in January 2014.

The artwork should be exterior public art integrated within the landscape, viewable by commuters traveling along Montana Avenue, a major state highway. Up to three finalists will be selected to develop concept proposals and will each receive a $2,500 honorarium. The total project budget is $200,000 to include design, fabrication, and installation. The selected artist or artist team will work with a local artist through the Allied Artist Program.

This project is open to artists working or living in the United States. Applicants must have previous public art experience, experience working in landscapes, and an understanding of public and community interaction. Submissions require 6 images.
