About This Call

The City of El Paso's Public Art Program and Cultural Affairs Department invite eligible digital projection artists, artist teams, and graphic designers to submit proposals to participate in the Chalk the Block Public Art Street Festival. A total of 5 projection artists will be selected to project submitted artwork onto the facade of buildings downtown during the festival, held October 8, 9, and 10.

Eligibility requirements: Applicants must reside in El Paso, Las Cruces, or Ciudad Juarez (with legal documentation to work in the US), be at least 18 years of age or older, attend an accredited college/university, and/or be a professional artist with at least 5 years of experience. Designs must be original creations and static in nature; animated images or videos will not be accepted. Artwork must be appropriate for public viewing and not offensive. No advertising, including words and symbols, is permitted. Work must be submitted in final form with no adjustments or refinements allowed. An appointed jury panel of visual artists and local community members will review submissions and select the 5 artists on a competitive basis.

Selected artists will receive an honorarium of $200.00. Submissions must include a letter of interest, current resume, and one fully rendered image (1920 x 1920 pixels, Baseline JPEG format, no larger than 1.8MB). Artist teams must submit a resume for each member and describe their collaborative experience. Applications are submitted through the CAFE online application system at www.callforentry.org. For more information, contact Marisol Lopez, El Paso Public Art Program Specialist, at 915.541.4257 or [email protected].
