About This Call
The Cherry Hills Village Public Art Commission is seeking an artist or team of artists living or working in the State of Colorado for a public artwork to be loaned or donated and installed on the grounds of the City of Cherry Hills Village Joint Public Safety Facility, located at 2460 East Quincy Avenue in Cherry Hills Village, Colorado. The artwork will be placed on the grounds outside the facility.
Applicants must submit six digital images of previously completed artwork, a résumé (no longer than two pages), and a letter of interest (no more than 250 words). Artists wishing to submit outdoor kinetic or sound works must also submit a DVD or VHS tape of no more than five minutes to the address listed. There is no application fee. The Cherry Hills Village Public Art Commission will review applicants through an open review process and select finalists, who will be asked to prepare and present a final proposal (maquette, PowerPoint presentation, or drawing/painting) in person to the City Manager and City Council for final approval.
The City of Cherry Hills Village will pay for installation, maintenance costs, and necessary insurance. The artist and/or lender will be required to pay for transportation to the site. All applicants are requested to consider long-term conservation and maintenance, as public art projects are exposed to weather and subject to vandalism. Finalists are encouraged to consult with a professional conservator prior to final proposal submission. Additional information about the Public Art Program can be found in the City of Cherry Hills Village Art in Public Places Master Plan at www.cherryhillsvillage.com/artmasterplan.aspx. For questions, contact Laura Smith, City Clerk, at (303) 783-2732 or [email protected].
