About This Call
The Boulder Office of Arts and Culture invites experienced artists living in the Front Range Corridor region of Colorado and Wyoming to submit qualifications for the Mural Artist Roster. This roster serves as a resource to identify artists suitable for new artwork commissions, including the Creative Neighborhoods Mural Program. The program is open to artists working in any media regardless of race, color, creed, gender, gender variance, national origin, age, religion, marital status, political opinion or affiliation, or mental or physical handicap. Previous experience in public art is not required. The Front Range Corridor region includes Albany and Laramie counties in Wyoming and the following Colorado counties: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Clear Creek, Denver, Douglas, El Paso, Elbert, Fremont, Gilpin, Jefferson, Larimer, Park, Pueblo, Teller, and Weld.
The Creative Neighborhoods Mural Program commissions murals on private properties within Boulder's neighborhoods, with up to $2,500 provided by the Office of Arts and Culture for each mural. In 2018, nine new projects are anticipated, one within each of Boulder's subcommunities.
Application materials include: a one-page letter of interest (PDF) describing your experience with public art and murals; 2-8 work samples (images, video, or audio files accepted); an image identification list (PDF) with title, location, date, media, dimensions, and brief project description for each work sample; and contact information for 3 professional references. All materials must be submitted through CaFE. Application deadline is May 29, 2018 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Selected artists will be notified June 15. The Boulder Office of Arts and Culture does not guarantee that roster artists will receive a commission through the Neighborhood Mural Program.
