City of Aurora, Colorado - Rocky Ridge Park Public Art Commission

The City of Aurora is seeking a three-dimensional sculpture for Rocky Ridge Park, a 13-acre park situated along one of Aurora's busiest avenues. The park features a landscaped area with mature trees, curved sandstone terrace walls, picnic areas, a shelter for weddings and small parties, a prehistoric theme playground with a large dinosaur skeleton, rock climbing wall, basketball court, in-line skate court, and open lawn areas for informal play.

The Project Art Selection Panel has selected a site along the curved sandstone terrace wall for the sculpture. This placement will draw the attention of passersby while inviting park visitors to interact on a more intimate level. The Panel envisions the artwork to relate to the park's namesake Rocky Ridge in concept and/or medium.

Funding for this project was made possible through the City of Aurora 1% Art in Public Places Ordinance. There is no application fee. Applicants must submit 8 digital images. Applications must be submitted electronically through CaFÉ at www.callforentry.org. The application deadline is July 7, 2006 at Midnight (MDT).
