City of Aurora, Colorado - Aurora Senior Center Public Art RFQ

The Aurora Senior Center is undergoing a remodel designed by Dauer Haswell Architecture Group. The addition features new space designed for fitness programming, specifically cardiovascular and strength activities. The Project Art Selection Panel has selected a site directly in front of the newly designed entrance for the placement of a three-dimensional sculpture. The intention of this placement is to draw the attention of passersby while inviting visitors to interact on a more intimate level.

The Aurora Senior Center is a multipurpose facility for active adults age 50+ offering a dynamic variety of fitness and wellness programs, classes, sports leagues, seminars, dances, day trips, extended travel as well as services such as tax preparation, health clinic, a noon meal, and information and referral resources. The Mission of the Aurora Senior Center is to provide a continuum of services and resources for adults 50 and over and their families, thus fostering their dignity and contributing to their health, independence, well-being, and quality of life.

Funding for this project was made possible through the City of Aurora 1% Art in Public Places Ordinance. There is no application fee. Eight digital images are required. Application deadline: Midnight (MDT) July 7, 2006.
