City of Aurora Beck Recreation Center Public Art Commission

The City of Aurora, Colorado invites Colorado artists and artist teams to submit qualifications for a public art commission at the Beck Recreation Center, located at 800 Telluride Street. The Project Art Selection Panel envisions the artwork to be hung from the ceiling above the entrance lobby and will consider many types of media conducive to ceiling-hung artwork.

The project budget is $35,000, which covers all related expenses including artist fees, materials, fabrication, insurance, overhead costs, engineering, shipping, travel, site preparation, lighting, installation, documentation, building permit, sub-consultants, contingency, and identification plaque. Only artists and artist teams residing in Colorado are eligible to apply.

One to four semi-finalists will be invited to design a preliminary proposal and will be paid a $1,000 proposal fee. The City may reimburse semi-finalists for expenses incurred while traveling to Aurora to present the proposal to the Panel. Funding for this project is made possible through the City of Aurora 1% Art in Public Places Ordinance and the Conservation Trust Fund. Applicants must submit 8 images.
