About This Call
The City of Atlanta's Public Art Programs, through the Office of Cultural Affairs and the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport Art Program, invite artists to submit their qualifications for current and future public art projects. Selected artists will be added to an active register for a wide variety of public art projects at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and within the City of Atlanta. Artists on the register will be considered for direct purchase, site-specific commissions, artist-architect collaborations, design services, and artist/community collaborations. Artists will remain in the registry for a minimum of three years starting February 2006. Placement in this registry does not guarantee a commission nor does it exclude artists from submitting for other public art projects offered by the City of Atlanta.
All professional artists are eligible to apply, with special interest in those with previous public art experience, interest in site-specific commissions, or those who involve the public in their work. Artists may submit alone or as a team. The City of Atlanta encourages artists working in all visual art disciplines to apply, including sculptors, painters, muralists, mosaicists, photographers, videographers, printmakers, animators, light and sound artists, graphic designers, and conceptual artists. Budgets for each project vary. Historically, budgets have ranged from $500-$5,000 for direct purchase, $5,000-$10,000 for local community-based projects, and $10,000 to $1,500,000 for major public art projects.
Applications must be submitted via CaFE and include: 12 digital images of relevant work (presented in three groups of four), image information with brief descriptions (300 character limit), a resume for each artist (Microsoft Word or PDF format), and an artist's statement not exceeding 2000 characters. All applications must be completed by midnight January 16, 2006. Artists will be notified by email if selected for the Public Art Registry by February 15, 2006. Contact the Office of Cultural Affairs at 404-817-6815 or [email protected] with inquiries.
