About This Call
The City of Atlanta's Office of Cultural Affairs Public Art Program (OCA/PAP) invites artists to submit qualifications for current and future public art projects. The artist registry serves as the preferred vendor list for soliciting artists for major and minor public art commissions and direct purchases of artworks for the City of Atlanta. Artists will remain in the registry for a minimum of two years starting January 2009. Placement in this registry does not guarantee a commission nor does it exclude artists from submitting for other public art opportunities offered by the City of Atlanta.
Artists in the registry will be considered for site-specific commissions, artist-architect collaborations, design services, and artist/community collaborations. All professional artists residing in the United States are invited to apply, especially those with previous public art experience, interest in site-specific commissions, or those who have involved community members in their work. Artists may submit alone or as a team. The OCA encourages artists working in all visual art disciplines to apply, including sculptors, painters, muralists, mosaicists, photographers, videographers, and printmakers. Budgets for each project vary historically from $5,000 to $500,000.
Applications must be submitted by midnight MST on October 31, 2008. Work samples should include 8 images maximum. Submissions can be made via CaFÉ at www.callforentry.org, or for video and audio portfolios, via CD/DVD mailed to: Office of Cultural Affairs Public Art Program, Attn: Vené Venese, City Hall East, 675 Ponce de Leon Ave. 5th Floor, Atlanta, GA 30308 (postmarked by October 31st). Online submissions of video and still images can also be submitted via Flickr or YouTube URLs sent to [email protected]. Initial submissions will be reviewed by a jury of art professionals, and selected artists will be notified by mail.
