About This Call
The Albuquerque Fire 9 Art Selection Committee seeks an artist and/or artist team to develop and implement public artwork at Fire Station 9, located near the corner of Menaul Blvd and Eubank Blvd. NE. The selected artist(s) will work with the Fire Station 9 design team, which includes Albuquerque Fire Rescue, architects from Vigil and Associates, and the City's Department of Municipal Development.
The Art Selection Committee will consider artists working in a variety of media and styles suitable for long-term outdoor display with minimal routine maintenance. Artists will be selected based on aesthetic vision, excellence of past projects, and suitability for the site. A maximum of $100,000 is available from the Albuquerque Public Art program. Of this amount, $20,000 will be used for a design contract to work with the City and Fire Station 9 Design Team in developing the artwork, and the remaining $80,000 is available for design, fabrication, transport, and installation.
This is a regional open competition and Request for Qualifications (RFQ) open to individual artists and artist teams who are current residents of New Mexico and at least 18 years of age. The Art Selection Committee will select up to five finalists for interviews based on past work, experience executing public art, and experience working within design teams. Submission deadline: December 12, 2018 at 4:00 pm MT. Submit via CaFE (Call for Entry) at www.callforentry.org. Required materials: letter of intent (not to exceed 1000 words), up to 8 digital images of past work, annotated image key with title, media, dimensions and year of completion for each image, and current resume (not to exceed 3 pages). Do not submit proposed designs.
