Circumpolar

Frozen Lenses presents Circumpolar, a statewide juried photography exhibition. The exhibition invites photographers to share their vision of life in the circumpolar region. Juror Jeff Schultz is an internationally recognized photographer specializing in Alaska's landscapes, wildlife, and people, and official photographer of the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race since 1982. Schultz will give an artist talk on Thursday, April 6th, 2017 at 6pm in the Schiable Auditorium.

Eligibility is open to all amateur and professional photographers residing in Alaska. All photographic processes and interpretations of the theme are welcome. Work must fit within a 16x20 inch frame and must not have been previously exhibited in a Frozen Lenses show. Entry fee is $35 for 1-3 images ($25 for Frozen Lenses members). Accepted artists must provide high resolution images at 300 DPI and at least 2,000 pixels on the longest side for the exhibition catalogue. Matted prints (white/off-white) must be shipped in a reusable box with a pre-paid return label. 16x20 inch frames and glass will be provided. All selected images must be available for sale, with Ursa Major Distilling retaining a 20% commission.

Notification of acceptance: Monday, February 20th, 2017. Deadline for receipt of accepted works: Monday, March 27th, 2017. Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony: Friday, April 7th, 2017 at Ursa Major Distilling from 5pm-8pm, featuring catering and live music. Exhibition dates: Friday, April 7th through Friday, April 29th, 2017. Awards will be presented for Best in Show, two honorable mentions, People's Choice, and Venue's Choice.
