Cincinnati Art Museum: 4th Floor Award

The Cincinnati Art Museum's 4th Floor announces the second biennial 4th Floor Award, a regional artist competition open to professional, non-student artists residing within twelve counties in the Greater Cincinnati area (Ohio: Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Warren; Kentucky: Boone, Campbell, Kenton; Indiana: Dearborn, Ohio, Switzerland). The award seeks to promote emerging artists in the tri-state region and is juried by members of the 4th Floor, a friends group of the Cincinnati Art Museum.

Eligibility: Artists who have previously had solo exhibitions at the Cincinnati Art Museum are not eligible. Employees of the Cincinnati Art Museum and members of the 4th Floor are not eligible. Entry fee is $50. Maximum of six images per submission; include title and date of work in the title field for each image. All materials must be submitted online through CaFÉ by midnight Mountain Time on Thursday, December 30, 2010.

Selection Process: The 4th Floor will conduct the first round of selection by reviewing materials submitted in digital format. The 4th Floor Members will meet as a jury to discuss submissions and vote in person. All artists will be notified of jury results by email by Friday, February 11, 2011. Semi-finalists will be scheduled for studio visits during February and March. Three finalists and one winner will be selected by 4th Floor members voting in person after studio visits are completed; selections will be announced the first week of April 2011. Prize for each finalist is $500; the winner receives $1,000 and an exhibition in the Vance-Waddell Gallery of the Cincinnati Art Museum in fall 2011. One work by the winner may be considered for acquisition to the Art Museum's permanent collection.
