Chromatic Bloom at Art Works Downtown

Chromatic Bloom invites San Francisco Bay Area artists to explore the power of color in its most vibrant forms. This exhibition celebrates artworks that harness bold palettes, saturated hues, and expressive combinations to ignite the senses. Whether through abstraction, figuration, or symbolic storytelling, the exhibit seeks works where color takes center stage—radiating intensity and vitality. Open to most subject matter and all visual arts media including sculpture. Original artwork only; no giclées or reproductions. Artwork must not exceed 72" including frame, stand, and all materials. Video artists must include equipment dimensions and supply all equipment for exhibition; projections are prohibited. Images of explicit sexual content or violence will not be considered. Submissions must not have previously exhibited in the AWD 1337 Gallery.

Eligibility is limited to artists living within 100 miles of San Rafael, California. Entry fee is $40 for up to 3 entries; discounts available for AWD Artist Members. Submissions require 1–3 work samples (images and/or video). Applications are accepted through CallForEntry.org only; hardcopy, email, and disk submissions are not accepted. Entry deadline is May 1, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Notification by email will be sent May 8–9. Accepted work must be hand-delivered May 29–31, 12–6 p.m. to Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael. The exhibition runs June 6–July 19, with public visiting hours Wednesday–Saturday, 12–6 p.m. Opening reception is June 13, 5–8 p.m.; second reception is July 11, 5–8 p.m. Unsold artwork pickup is July 24–26, 12–6 p.m. Artists who do not retrieve work will be charged $5.00 per day storage; works remaining after 30 days become property of Art Works Downtown. Upon sale, Art Works Downtown receives a 40% donation; the artist is responsible for donating 40% of the net sale total to AWD.
