About This Call
SFVACC invites artists to enter our 2026 In-Person Exhibition, Chroma, Color, and Contrast. This exhibition explores the expressive force of color in all its forms - from the saturated and electric to the subtle and restrained. The exhibition examines the interplay between hues, values, and intensities, and how contrast can spark emotion, define space, or disrupt expectation. Artists are invited to explore color as language, as sensation, and as an agent of mood, movement, or meaning. Artworks may be bold or quiet, harmonious or dissonant - what matters is the intentional use of chroma and contrast to create visual impact and deepen the viewer's experience.
The exhibition is open to all artists residing in North America and seeks a well-rounded range of 2D and 3D art. Artists may submit up to six original artworks as high-resolution JPEGs, with a maximum finished size of 30 inches across including frame. Entry fee is $40 with an early bird discount of $10 using code Chroma10 until December 31, 2025. Additional entries are $5 each. All artwork must be hand delivered to TAG Gallery and must be for sale.
Awards include Best of Show (a 2026 Solo Show Exhibition in the Lazarus Gallery at TAG Gallery valued at more than $1700), First Place ($400), Second Place ($300), and up to four Honorable Mentions. The juror is David S. Rubin, a distinguished curator and critic with almost forty years of experience in contemporary art curation. The exhibition runs February 25 - March 20, 2026 at TAG Gallery, 5458 Wilshire Boulevard, Los Angeles, with an opening reception on February 28. The exhibition will also be displayed virtually on the SFVACC website from February 25, 2026 through April 30, 2026.
