About This Call
The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo, ProMedica Health Systems, and the Chop House Restaurant seek a large, hanging installation in glass, dichroic glass, or acrylic for a 4-story atrium above The Chop House restaurant in ProMedica's headquarters. The work should be contemporary, airy, bright, whimsical, and visually interesting from every level of the atrium. The installation may take advantage of subtle airflow and could incorporate kinetic elements.
The project budget is $40,000, which includes all costs associated with the commission including materials, fabrication, transportation, and documentation. An additional line item will cover installation expenses including lifts, anchors, hardware, and cabling. Three finalists will be selected by the design review board and invited to submit proposals. Each finalist receives $1,000 in compensation for proposal development expenses, with up to $1,000 available for site visit expenses including travel and lodging. Finalists will be notified by phone or email no later than February 17, 2021.
The project is open to all artists residing in the United States, age 18 and over, regardless of race, color, religion, national origin, gender, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental disability. Artist teams are eligible, including teams from multiple disciplines. Submissions must include a letter of interest (one page maximum), resume, 10 digital images of professional work, and three professional references with complete contact information. Optional materials include a statement of intent (one page maximum) and up to 3 videos of kinetic work. The Design Review Board will review the first three images in the preliminary selection round.
