About This Call
The Broward County Commission's Cultural Division Public Art and Design Program is seeking to commission a professional artist or team of artists to create an original integrated artwork for the new Children's Reading Center and Museum in the Town of Davie. The artwork will be integrated into the design of the shared interior and/or exterior space of the library/museum. This is a partnership between Broward County Libraries Division and Young At Art Museum.
The new 55,000 sq. ft. Children's Reading Center and Museum will be located on eastbound State Road 84 adjacent to SW 121st Avenue. The artwork will be integrated into the design of shared interior and/or exterior space. Artists must focus on creative, vibrant, innovative and inspiring designs that enhance the overall appearance of this large space, while keeping in mind the core mission and function of the Children's Reading Center and Museum. Artwork opportunities may include, but are not limited to, floor and wall designs and the use of other functional and/or non-functional elements. Artwork must be durable, permanent, low maintenance and in compliance with ADA guidelines. All media will be considered.
The total budget established for the project is $182,000, which includes research, community and agency meeting costs, design, team interaction with architects and engineers, materials, fabrication, installation, insurance, proposals, photographic documentation, travel, sales tax and transportation. The call is open to all professional artists working in any media. Artists must be able to work effectively within the aggressive project timeline and collaborate with the architect of record, general contractor and multiple governmental and community groups. Application requirements include a letter of interest, professional résumé, 10 digital images of most recent work, and an annotated image list. Hard copy materials will not be accepted. Application deadline is Friday, March 7, 2008 at midnight, Mountain Standard Time. Contact Christina Roldan at (954) 357-8542 or [email protected].
