About This Call
SCORE (Southern California Open Regional Exhibitions) invites artists to enter the Chiaroscuro virtual exhibit. Artists are invited to submit work depicting contrast between light and dark. All mediums except video are accepted. Artwork will be juried using digital images (.JPGs) through CaFÉ, and video of art may accompany .JPGs upon entering.
Awards include Best of Show $800, 1st Place $400, and 2nd Place $300. The juror will also select up to four Honorable Mention awards (certificates only). The juror is Angela Phillips, director and curator of Galeria Gitana in San Fernando, California. Entry opens June 5, 2021, with a deadline of August 4, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. MST. Acceptance notifications will be sent by August 17, 2021, and award winners will be notified by August 18, 2021. The exhibit opens September 1, 2021, with a virtual reception on September 4, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. PST, and closes September 30, 2021 at 11:59 p.m. PST. The exhibit will remain on view on the SFVACC website Archived Exhibits page indefinitely.
Entries must be original works created within the last three years and of the artist's own execution. Artists may submit up to six original artworks as high-resolution JPGs (maximum 5MB each). The entry fee is $35 for one artwork, with additional entries at $5 each. Fees are non-refundable, and there is no guarantee of acceptance. All juried artwork must remain online until the end of the exhibit. Work must not have been shown at any previous SFVACC/SCORE exhibit. Sales are handled directly between artist and buyer with no commission to SFVACC. Artists are invited to participate in the virtual reception with a 1-minute time slot if desired.
