Cheyenne Frontier Days Western Art Show & Sale 2020

The 40th Annual Cheyenne Frontier Days Western Art Show and Sale is an invitational exhibition featuring world-class Western art from 60-65 artists across the United States and Canada. Traditionally, only 2-4 new artists are selected each year. The show runs from July 16-August 16, 2020, and serves as the primary fundraiser for the CFD Old West Museum, a private 501(c)(3) not-for-profit institution.

Artwork must have Western subject matter. Applicants should submit a portfolio of 5 pieces, website information, gallery representation list, recent shows/awards, and any publications featuring their work. Entry fee is $75. Notifications will be sent by October 15. All artwork must be original (no photos, laser prints, giclees, or digital reproductions). Works with multiples must be disclosed with the number of available pieces. All exhibited artwork must be new and remain on display until the show closes. The museum reserves the right to refuse artwork deemed inappropriate.

Accepted artists must price work to allow a 35% commission supporting the museum. Sales occur through a competitive drawing system where buyers place intent-to-purchase slips; drawn buyers have 20 minutes to claim pieces or decline. A "Jump the Gun" premium option allows buyers to purchase before the drawing at 25% markup (artists receive 30% of markup). Two-dimensional work must be under 47 inches wide and 60 inches tall including frame, with wire hang systems. All work must arrive show-ready, properly framed and wired. Shipped work should arrive June 15-19; hand-delivered work June 22-26, 9am-4pm. Artists are responsible for return shipping costs.
