Cherry Creek Arts Festival: Arrow Five Years Out Art Challenge

The Cherry Creek Arts Festival and Arrow Electronics are partnering on the Arrow Five Years Out Art Challenge, inviting visual artists to express the concept of innovation through their artistic discipline. Painters, glass blowers, wood turners, new media creators, digital artists, and artists working in any media are encouraged to apply. Five finalists will each receive a $5,000 commission to create their piece for display at the 2015 Cherry Creek Arts Festival. One winner will be selected to receive an additional $10,000 grand prize and a jury-exempt invitation to exhibit at the 2016 Cherry Creek Arts Festival. The five commissioned artworks will become part of Arrow's innovative collection and may be featured in global advertising and offices worldwide.

Artwork must be portable and structurally sound, weighing no more than 150 lbs and able to be moved without mechanized machinery. Artists should design pieces mindful that they will be displayed in multiple venues and may be shipped internationally. Artwork must arrive at the Cherry Creek Arts Festival offices by June 16, 2015. Shipping costs and professional crating must be included in the $5,000 commission.

Applications must be submitted electronically by midnight MDT on March 20, 2015. Applicants must submit five images of previously completed artworks, a detailed description of the artwork they intend to create, and a current resume. Artists submitting kinetic, sound, or electronic media works must also upload a video or sound file. Selection criteria include innovative ideas, creative depiction of the Five Years Out theme, professional qualifications, artistic merit, and portability of artwork. The competition is open to all artists regardless of race, color, creed, gender, gender variance, national origin, age, religion, marital status, political opinion, or affiliation, or mental or physical handicap. Artists may apply individually or as a team.
