About This Call

The Homecoming Art Show began in 1995, over Cherokee National Holiday weekend, in honor of its artists' shared heritage, and is an art competition and exhibition. It features twelve categories of traditional Cherokee and contemporary art. The exhibition will be held virtually and in person from August 10 through September 7, 2024, at Cherokee Springs Plaza.

Submissions must include photos of artwork, Tribal Registration Card, W9, and Vendor Form. Artists may submit between 1 and 9 images. The entry deadline is July 5, 2024. Accepted works will be posted July 10, with an art delivery deadline of July 26. The reception and awards ceremony is August 9 at 6pm, and the gallery opens to the public August 10. The show closes September 7, with art pickup available September 10-21.

Categories include: Beadwork/Quillwork, Contemporary Basketry, Traditional Basketry, Contemporary Pottery, Traditional & Figurative Pottery, Jewelry, Sculpture, Textiles, and Traditional Arts. Each category has specific guidelines regarding allowable materials, techniques, and disclosure requirements. Detailed rules govern the use of commercial versus hand-crafted components, natural versus synthetic materials, and compliance with federal and state regulations regarding endangered species and protected materials.
