Chasing Ghosts V: Art that Pierces the Veil through remembrance, legacy, & beyond

Chasing Ghosts V invites artists to explore the theme of revealing the unseen or the soul in a work of art. The term "ghost" may be interpreted in many ways, not necessarily as a literal representation. Artists are encouraged to consider how their process manifests an identity that speaks to the past, expresses deepest fears or concerns, or reflects current social, health, environmental, and political concerns. The call welcomes exploration of how legacies are revealed through work or process, and the role of memory as a vehicle of expression. All mediums and modes of expression are welcome.

Selected artists will be featured in a group exhibition at Verum Ultimum Art Gallery in Portland, Oregon, opening during the last week of October and running for one month. The exhibition will include an opening reception and be posted on the gallery website. One artist will be featured in an online blog post interview. All works in the show must be for sale, with the gallery taking a 40 percent commission on sales; sale price is determined by the artist.

Eligibility: Open to all 2D and 3D artists, national and international, working in painting, drawing, photography, graphics, digital, and sculpture. Entrants must be 18 years or older. Wall-mounted works must not exceed 60" in height or width. Entry fee is $35.00 for three artworks submitted as digital JPG images. Artists will be notified of acceptance by mid-October via email. Accepted artists will not be charged additional fees. Artists retain all copyrights to their work.
