About This Call
Charlotte Street Foundation, a non-profit, artist-centered organization based in Kansas City, Missouri, invites applications from eligible artists for the 2012 Charlotte Street Generative Performing Artist Awards. The application deadline is February 15, 2012.
Eligibility Requirements: Applicants must be generative performing artists who have resided in the five-county Metropolitan Kansas City area (Jackson, Clay, Platte, Wyandotte, Johnson counties) since at least February 15, 2011; be 21 years of age or older as of February 15, 2012; have graduated from undergraduate school prior to December 2010 (college attendance is not required); and not be or plan to be a full-time student during January-December 2012. Artists who have previously received Charlotte Street Generative Performing Artist Awards are not eligible. Collaborative groups may apply if the group is well-established, creating generative performing work in an ongoing and deeply collaborative manner, with each member's sole or primary generative performing work being as a member of the group, and each member playing a generative role in the creation of the group's work.
Applications must include: a statement (400 words or less) describing your generative performance-based work, your intent, creative process, and how your work is original and innovative; a resume/CV including history of generative performance-based work; and work samples consisting of documentation of up to 3 original works created within the past 3 years, submitted as URL links or audio/video files (panelists will review no more than 5 minutes total), along with a work sample list providing title, date, media, venue, your role, and brief description of intent and content. Selection will be made through online reviews by a panel of local and national performing arts professionals, followed by in-person 30-minute visits with 6-10 semi-finalist artists, and a final selection panel meeting. Artists will be notified in early April if selected for an in-person visit; studio visits will take place in late April/early May 2012. All applications must be completed online through www.callforentry.org.
