About This Call
The Charles H. Wright Museum invites artists to participate in a 60th year anniversary contemporary art exhibition running from Spring 2025 through Winter 2026. When Dr. Charles H. Wright established the museum, artists of Detroit were central to his vision. He and his collaborative team created a groundbreaking gathering space focused on African American history, art, and culture. This anniversary exhibition celebrates Detroit's Black Artists.
Artists may submit a maximum of 3 artworks that relate to Dr. Charles H. Wright, The Wright Museum, the City of Detroit, or the African American experience. Applicants must answer two questions: How has the Charles H. Wright Museum impacted your artistic practice? How is the City of Detroit central to your artistic practice? Work samples may include 1-3 images, up to 3 audio files, and up to 3 video files (minimum 1 total sample required).
Eligibility: Artists or museum and gallery representatives must own the works being submitted. Selection will be based on artistic merit, quality of presentation, compatibility with the Wright Museum's Mission Statement ("To open minds and change lives through the exploration and celebration of African American history and culture"), appropriateness for a general family audience, and relationship to The Wright Museum, Dr. Charles H. Wright, or the City of Detroit.
