About This Call
The Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum presents the 2013 Western Spirit Art Show and Sale, running March 2 - April 14, 2013. The museum is dedicated to educating the community about the history and culture of Cheyenne Frontier Days.
Entry fee is $20.00, with an additional $20.00 media fee per image above one entry. Artists may submit 1-6 images. An optional Artist Seminar is available for $40.00, featuring professional development and networking with Southwest Art Marketing representatives, renowned Western artists, art collectors, and other art professionals. All artwork must be original work created in the past 2-3 years. No photos, laser, giclee, or digital works are accepted. All artwork must be ready to hang and/or display upon arrival.
Awards include Best of Show ($1,000), Best of Each Media ($500), People's Choice Award ($300), and Best Miniature ($100). Accepted artists are invited to enter one piece in the Vandewark Miniature Show. A Quick Draw event on opening night features six artists creating finished pieces in 45 minutes to be auctioned at the awards ceremony. Jurors include Mindy A Besaw (Curator of the Whitney Gallery of Western Art at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center), Brandon James Bailey (wildlife and western artist), and Nikki Todd (owner of Visions West Galleries). All artwork must be for sale; the museum retains a 30% commission on sales (50% for Quick Draw art). Work exceeding size limits will be refused and returned at the artist's expense. Hand delivery of accepted work is February 4-8, 9am-4pm, M-F. Artwork must remain on exhibit until the show closes. Contact: [email protected].
