Ceramic Sensibilities

Art Works Downtown invites submissions for Ceramic Sensibilities, a juried exhibition to be presented in its premiere 1337 Gallery. The jurors are looking for inventiveness, a high level of skill, and thoughtful use of the medium with a focus on individual expression.

Eligibility is limited to San Francisco Bay Area artists only (artist must live within 100 miles from San Rafael). All submissions must be primarily made of ceramic, clay, or porcelain. Artwork must not exceed 72" by any dimension, including all materials. Submissions must not have previously exhibited in the AWD 1337 Gallery. Entry fee is $40 for a maximum of 3 entries, with discounts provided to AWD Artist Members. Submit 1-3 images through CallForEntry.org.

Jurors are Bill Abright, exhibition artist, lifetime ceramist, and retired professor of art and ceramics; and Claudia Tarantino, exhibiting artist, lifetime ceramist, and accomplished object and art restorer. Entries are due August 16 at 11:59 p.m. MDT. Notification will be sent by email August 23 or 24. Accepted work must be hand-delivered to Art Works Downtown, 1337 Fourth Street, San Rafael between 1pm-4pm on September 14. The exhibition runs with a reception and 2nd Friday Art Walk on October 11, 5-8pm, and closing reception on November 8, 5-8pm. Unsold artwork can be picked up November 9, 10am-2pm. Art Works Downtown accepts a 40% donation upon sale. Artists who do not retrieve their work will be charged a storage fee of $3.00 per day; works remaining after 30 days become property of Art Works Downtown.
