Central Platte Valley and Metro District (CPVMD) Public Sculpture

The Central Platte Valley and Metro District (CPVMD) is seeking qualifications from artists for an exterior public sculpture at a plaza at 1900 16th St in Downtown Denver, near Union Station and the Museum of Contemporary Art. All qualified artists are welcome to apply regardless of location.

The scope of this project includes sculpture design, fabrication, transportation, and installation. The total project budget is $180,000–$245,000, which must cover artist fees, materials, travel, labor costs, insurance, engineer drawings and stamp of approval, contingency budget, taxes, business expenses, fabrication, freight, and installation. The art committee seeks something truly "iconic" in scale that will catch the eyes of both vehicular traffic and pedestrians. The estimated installation timeline is end of July 2025, with flexibility depending on the selected artist's schedule.

Submissions must include: a short biography describing your location, background, and relevant experience; a statement detailing your current practice, interests, themes, materials, and why you are a good candidate for this project; a list with photos of recent relevant projects including name, location, and overall budget; and confirmation of your ability to work within the project timeline and budget. All submissions must be provided as a single PDF document and submitted digitally via the CaFÉ website by 11:59 PM MST on Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Late submissions will not be accepted. The art committee will send updates regarding applicant status the week of August 26, 2024 via email.
