Center for the Arts Theater Gallery

Center for the Arts in Jackson, WY is seeking proposals from individual artists or small artist teams for The Center Theater Gallery exhibition space. The Theater Gallery is an approximately 35-foot long transitional hallway from the theater to the education pavilion with exhibition space on both walls. This is a high visibility, high traffic exhibition space, with more than 100,000 audience members attending events in and around The Center campus every year.

The Center Theater Gallery has five open slots for exhibitions ranging from 4 to 6 weeks from January 1-December 31, 2016. This is a juried call. Excellence, contemporary vision, technical expertise and suitability for the space are the criteria by which jurors will make selections. Both emerging and established artists are encouraged to apply. Cutting edge contemporary artists as well as artists working in traditional media with a fresh vision will be considered. Artists may offer work for sale; a 30% commission and taxes will be withheld by Center for the Arts. The Center will provide online marketing, limited print marketing, opening reception for the artist, and an art talk with the public about the artist's process. Work must arrive ready for installation, and the artist is responsible for transporting work to and from the Center. The exhibition space is open to the public daily and is not monitored, so exhibiting work is at the artist's risk, though all care will be taken to ensure safety.

Eligibility: Artists must reside in Wyoming, Idaho, Montana, Utah, or Colorado. Entry fee is $25.00. Artists must provide 6 images (preferably the proposed work itself or very similar work) and a one-page proposal including details about the desired time frame for 2016. Up to 3 applications are allowed per artist. The Center has a partnership with St. John's Medical Center through which selected artists may exhibit their work for 6 months to 1 year following their show in The Center Theater Gallery, with work sold through Center for the Arts under the same stipulations. Artists may opt out of this additional opportunity.
