About This Call

Center for the Arts Evergreen (CAE), located in Evergreen, Colorado, seeks applicants for its Artist in Residence Program (AIR). The program offers emerging and established artists the opportunity to foster creativity and community engagement while developing new works and works-in-progress. CAE welcomes artists working across disciplines and media, including visual artists, sculptors, musicians, writers, filmmakers, and more. Eligible disciplines include drawing, painting, sculpture, dance, photography, film, video, new media, installation, fiction and nonfiction writing, spoken word/poetry, and interdisciplinary work. Artists must bring their own equipment for digital media work. Media that produce toxic fumes and artwork involving nonstop continuous loud noise are not permitted.

Twelve-week residencies are offered three times each year: February 2-April 25, 2026; May 4-July 24, 2026; and August 3-October 24, 2026. Residents receive housing in a private cottage, private studio space with 24-hour secure access, a $250 monthly stipend upon completion ($750 total), paid teaching and workshop opportunities, exhibition space, an artist page on the CAE website, and opportunities to sell work at CAE events. The cottage is a 1 bedroom/1 bath with full kitchen, located a 5-minute walk from Downtown Evergreen. Shared facilities include utility sinks, free WiFi, a breakroom, and a conference room. As part of the residency, each artist must develop and facilitate a community program related to their residency plan, such as open studio visits, presentations, workshops, or community engagement projects.

Applications must be submitted by October 1, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. MDT through CAFÉ. The $35 application fee is required. A complete application includes a resume/CV, 3-10 images of work, answers to three required questions (Residency Plan, Public Engagement Plan, and Medium Practice explanation), social media platforms, and 2 letters of recommendation. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and living and working in the United States. The selection process includes initial staff review for completion and eligibility, electronic jury evaluation based on artistic merit and residency project proposal, and finalist interviews conducted via Zoom. All travel expenses, including transportation to and from CAE, are the responsibility of the awardee.
