About This Call
Center for the Arts, the creative heartbeat of Jackson, Wyoming for two decades, is seeking one artist or team to create an outdoor installation for The Center Park, unveiled in 2027 as part of the organization's 20th anniversary celebrations. The Center Park is an expansive green space on the south side of The Center's campus, framed by views of Snow King Mountain and steps from downtown Jackson. Works should complement, not constrain, the park's flexible use for diverse summer events.
The selected work must be four-season durable, capable of withstanding mountain weather and heavy snow loads. The anticipated display term is three years (through 2030), although shorter-term and/or permanent proposals will also be considered. Ideas for community engagement opportunities and/or an artist residency program related to the piece are welcome. Project goals include encouraging exploration and discovery through visually compelling design, elevating The Center Park as a year-round canvas for creativity, adding daily energy to The Center campus, inspiring interaction and shared experience, and ensuring durability through long mountain winters.
Budget: Up to $150,000 (all-inclusive) to cover artist fees, design, engineering, permits, fabrication, transportation, installation, equipment, insurance, travel, maintenance, de-installation (if temporary), and contingency. Work samples should include a minimum of 5 and maximum of 10 images, with up to 3 videos permitted, for a total of 5-13 samples. Entry deadline: March 1, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. MST.
