Center Courtyard 2018

Center for the Arts in Jackson, WY is seeking proposals from individual artists or small artist teams for The Center Courtyard exhibition space. The Courtyard is a 30 ft by 28 ft outdoor space within the arts facility with glass walls on three sides, visible from the conference room, Theater Gallery hallway, Glenwood street entrance, and an aerial view from the green space above The Center's ground level. The facility houses 18 arts nonprofit administrative offices, 5 dance studios, art studios, galleries, a blackbox theater, and a 500-seat theater. The Courtyard is a high visibility, high traffic exhibition space with more than 100,000 audience members attending events in and around the campus every year.

This call is open to artists with more than 5 years of professional experience creating site-specific art installations. Proposals must be specific to The Courtyard space and must withstand extreme heat, wind, cold, snow, and rain. Power is accessible though limited. Proposals should include an estimated budget ranging from $1,000 to $15,000. Scheduling and budgets for each installation will be set when working with The Center's Creative Initiatives Coordinator one-on-one.

Evaluation criteria include: impact of the artwork on an aesthetic level; appropriateness of scale; relationship of the work to the site and The Center's greater community and how it activates or enhances public space; relevance to The Center and the larger community including Jackson's values, culture, and people; suitability for display at The Center; and impact of installation and de-installation plans. Entry fee is $10.00. Work samples required: 3-7 images, 0-2 audio files, 0-2 video files (3-11 total samples). International eligibility.
