About This Call
The City of Centennial is seeking artists to design wraps for traffic boxes across three sites in the community. Each site offers an artist commission of $2,000, and artists may participate in one or all three sites, eligible for the commission for each site if selected. The City will cover wrap production costs, installation, and maintenance.
Each site contains six traffic boxes that require submitted designs. Designs for each site should not be identical but should incorporate similar elements and a cohesive theme. Site 1 focuses on "Neighborhoods Matter," celebrating the neighborhoods along Smoky Hill Road and their unique character. Site 2 addresses "Business are Valued/Innovation Absolute," highlighting Centennial's business district along Dry Creek Road at Chester and its aerospace, communications, and innovation sectors. Site 3 follows a path through neighborhoods from Newton Middle School on Arapahoe Road, turning south on Colorado Boulevard and west along Dry Creek Road.
Artwork must address Centennial's vision statement: "The City of Centennial is a connected community, where neighborhoods matter, education is embraced, businesses are valued, and innovation absolute." References to local history and Centennial's unique neighborhoods are encouraged. Designs must be family-friendly, pleasing, and add beauty to the community. Designs cannot contain business promotions, advertisements, intellectual property breaches, brands, logos, trademarks, depictions of illegal activities, or colors and shapes that could be confused with traffic control devices. Physical objects cannot be attached to boxes. A 4" border at the bottom will include Centennial branding. Lighter colors are recommended to prevent overheating of electrical components. Artwork must account for 3D presentation on the boxes.
Submit 6 to 18 images. After selection, artwork will be converted to digital format. Vector format (.AI, .EPS, .SVG) is preferred; alternatively submit PDF, TIFF, or RAW. Non-vector artwork must meet minimum 150 dpi/ppi and minimum 2,000 pixels at the widest or tallest point. Box sizes are approximately 62.5" H x 44.5" W x 26" D (small) or 67" H x 49" W x 30" D (large). Entry fee is $10. The call is open to all local artists and artist teams; youth, youth groups, and schools are highly encouraged. City of Centennial staff, elected and appointed officials, and their immediate family are not eligible.
