Celestial Bodies

Celestial Bodies is a tri-state regional juried exhibition open to artists in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. The exhibition runs April 12–May 21 in the Adrian Center for the Arts' 1,100 sq. ft. gallery in Adrian, Michigan.

Artists are invited to submit up to 3 pieces completed within the last three years depicting the universe. Entries may interpret the theme broadly in any visual art style—serious, ironic, or humorous. Possible subjects include deep space phenomena, astronomical or astrophysical theories and instruments, or interpretations drawn from spiritual texts, myths, folk tales, history, literature, or dreams. Artists may also explore corporeal themes or what makes human bodies heavenly.

Eligibility is limited to artists from Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. Any medium or combination of media is acceptable, including editioned work, but excludes giclee or digital prints of works that exist in other media. The gallery is not equipped for projection, video, or time-based media, though these may be considered if the artist provides all necessary equipment. Works previously exhibited at the ACA Gallery are not eligible. Work must pass through a 33" wide x 81" tall doorway and not exceed 200 pounds. If installation is complicated or requires special tools, the artist may be required to install the work. All work will be available for sale unless marked NFS; the ACA retains 20% of sales. Entry fee is $30 for up to three entries (free for ACA members). The juror is Rachel Veramay, Curator of Exhibitions at the Ella Sharp Museum in Jackson, Michigan.
