Celebrating Southern California

Location 1980 is an eclectic art space supporting community and local arts with over 5,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor creative space. The organization provides working studio space for artists and hosts solo and group exhibitions, workshops, instructed painting classes, and private event rentals.

This exhibition, "Celebrating Southern California," invites artists to celebrate the diverse culture of Southern California through any medium—whether city or beach scapes, farmland, mountains, people, places, or things. Original artwork only (no giclees or reproductions). Artists may submit up to four pieces and must provide an artist statement along with a brief description of their work and how it relates to Southern California. Entry fee is $35.00 with an additional $5.00 media fee. Submit 1-4 images via Cafe.org only.

Three works will receive Juror's Award ribbons and certificates for the most imaginative interpretation of the theme. One work will be designated "Best in Show" and featured on the exhibition catalog cover. Juror is Phil Roberts, a portrait artist and BFA graduate from Pratt Institute with 25 years of experience in movie advertising and the surf industry. Exhibition dates: March 1-28, 2015. Opening reception: Saturday, March 14, 2015, 6-9 p.m. Art drop-off: Friday, February 27, 2015, 4-8 p.m. or Saturday, February 28, 2015, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Art pick-up: Saturday, March 28, 2015, 2-6 p.m. Artwork received by mail must include return shipping pre-paid postage and be ready to hang or display (maximum 50 lbs). Location 1980 retains 40% commission on any work sold. If artwork is selected, Location 1980 reserves the right to photograph and use images for marketing and publicity without compensation.
